Do you use Oven Pride?

If the answer is yes, then please use this product with caution, take a read below about some of Love Your Oven’s thoughts and feelings regarding the use of caustic acids and your oven cleaning.

In all the years I have been cleaning ovens, I quite often find ovens that people have attempted to clean themselves with products such as Oven Pride. If the clean is done correct then all is fine, however more times than not I find left over residue of Oven Pride that ha not been cleaned off properly or in alot of cases just left inside the oven to dry out which really is something you need to avoid doing.

Keep reading to see why it is a good idea to get your oven professionally cleaned by Love Your Oven and not use Oven Pride.

Oven Pride Contamination.

REASONS NOT TO USE OVEN PRIDE

  • First and foremost……Lets start with Oven pride being an acid! If you get this on your skin, it will cause burns!
  • The bag that is supplied with the Oven Pride product is very thin, although it does the job, it can split and quite often does leak and depending on where you have placed the bag which contains the oven racks/trays etc it can cause damage to work surfaces etc.
  • Prolonged or continuous use can cause damage to your chrome/steel oven racks as it will over time strip or damage the chrome plating causing the racks to discolour and in some instances cause them to rust.
  • If left on the inside of your oven again this can cause damage to the enamel inside your oven, causing stains and in some case rust within the joints or oven sides.
  • If used on the oven glass, it can leave stains on the glass which are permenant if it isnt cleaned off thoroughly.
  • If not cleaned off properly the caustic acids will remain on the sides, base and rear of your oven (behind the backplate) and turn into a powdery chalky residue. This is particulary bad as it can contaminate your foods that you cook by being blwon onto food by your fan or falling from the sides onto your foods.
  • Oven pride absolutlely stinks and lingers for some time after use.
  • The product is extremely toxic, especially to children and pets.

WHY YOU SHOULD USE A PROFESSIONAL OVEN CLEANER

If the reasons not to use Oven Pride listed above hasnt convinced you enough already I will go through some reasons why it is better all round for you to use a professional oven cleaner, such as Love Your Oven !

A professional Oven Cleaner will have full control of the chemicals and cleaning agents used to carry out your oven clean, Love Your Oven  Do NOT use any acids or harsh chemicals (some pro oven cleaners do)

A professional oven cleaner will ensure that all shelves and racks are removed from your oven and cleaned individually,  the door will also be removed and split down further to clean inbetween the glass too. Further to this, if your oven is fan assisted, the back plate and fan are removed and cleaned independently. Doing this ensures that your oven is thoroughly cleaned and no cleaning residues are left behind.

As Love Your Oven don’t use acids, your oven is ready to use straight away. The cleaning agents are virtually scent free and not harmful topeople or pets that are close by.

Where possible knobs and controls are removed and cleaned independently and behind them, you may be surprised with the amount of grease & grime that builds up in these areas.

Hiring a professional oven cleaner will also save you time and hassle of doing the dirty job yourself and you will be safe in the knowledge that your oven has been cleaned thoroughly and correctly by a professional.

A professional oven clean for a single/double built in oven usually takes between 1hr – 2hrs, other types of ovens such as range ovens can take much longer depending on condidtion.

    Of course there are times that products do come in handy for people, especially with really blackened oven racks or trays, however Love Your Oven wouldnt use acids as it is against our eco freindly ethos. I you do try it, please use with extreme care.
