Firstly, Love Your Oven is NOT a franchise, not that there’s anything wrong with a franchise business model, but this is my own family business developed and created from scratch by myself, David Hartley

My Background

I haven’t always been an oven cleaner. I was in the E-commerce industry for approximately 13 years working for the same company, the only reason I left was a demise in that particular industry I was in and the company I worked for struggled to compete with the likes of Amazon and other “big brand” sellers.  The competition was so strong there was little to no profit left for the company. I abandoned ship which was a big decision for me but ultimately the correct one.

I started a new career cleaning ovens for a company.This was not only a change in job but a whole new type of work, I was finishing the day grimy and tired, not like before where I was working in an office all day clean as a whistle.  This change was quite significant for me and this is where I was trained and learnt the craft of “Oven Cleaning.” After 3 years in that role came Covid / lockdown where I was eventually laid off and found myself out of work.(for the first time in my life)  This unemployed period didn’t last long as when I founded “Love Your Oven” & never looked back. 

The beginning of Love Your Oven

When I started my oven cleaning business, Love Your Oven, I knew I was on the right path. The work aligns perfectly with my personality and work ethic. Prior to this, in my career in the e-commerce industry, I developed key skills in customer service, management, website updates, and stock management. These diverse aspects of my experience now seamlessly blend into the day-to-day operations of Love Your Oven.

Customer service and client satisfaction are at the core of my business. I prioritise being punctual, as arriving on time for appointments is the first impression I make in person—and first impressions matter. I strive to be approachable and easy to work with, treating all my clients with the utmost respect. I am LGBTQ+ friendly and firmly believe in creating an inclusive environment, free from judgment based on anyone’s lifestyle choices. After all, I’m invited into people’s homes to provide a service, and I’m truly grateful for that opportunity. I know I wouldn’t last long in this business if I didn’t prioritize respect and understanding.

How I operate day to day

When it comes to my actual oven cleaning, I am clean and tidy, I use a vinyl mat to protect your flooring to keep mess down to a minimum and also use a portable vacuum cleaner to hoover throughout the oven clean and after I have finished too to ensure I leave everything clean along with your clean oven.

I remove the doors, seals and knobs from all ovens where possible,  this also includes the NEFF Slide & Hide models which I do lots of. I also remove backplates and fans where possible (there are times when I don’t do this depending on the oven, its age and other factors)  on top of this, if your oven needs a bulb and I have one that fits with me, I will supply you with one free of charge.

I use non-caustic cleaning methods inside your oven, this is for both my safety and your safety and also to ensure there is no damage to your oven or kitchen area by contamination with caustics. I have heard lots of horror stories about the use of caustics. This said I keep well away from it and only use non-caustic eco-friendly cleaning products.  It is all done by hand and not by using a steam cleaner as many people seem to think. So you can be assured your oven will be left clean, safe and ready to use straight away with the added bonus of no nasty smells lingering in your oven once I have left.

Pricing

When it comes to pricing for oven cleaning, I strive to be as transparent as possible—both in my advertising and in direct communication with clients. I believe that an honest pricing structure is crucial for building customer trust, ensuring that clients know exactly what to expect from the first point of contact.

My pricing is fixed for each type of oven, and I don’t typically offer discounts or sales like many others. However, I do provide a 10% discount for customers with a Blue Light Card, which is the only discount I offer. By running my business this way, I ensure complete transparency with no hidden fees or surprises.

One more way to save is through my “Clean & Save Maintenance Package,” which offers up to 20% off the standard pricing. This package requires the bulk purchase of oven cleans to be completed within 12 months of the initial purchase. If you typically have your oven cleaned two or three times a year, this package would be a great fit for you.
